Day 2, 20 September 2008
Last night even we just sitting in the bus it was quite tiring. Anyway on the 20th it was visiting times.
The warm welcome from MR.Kenny from IOI edible Oil Sandakan was nice. His talks and all his teach was all meaningful to us. I got snap pictures but there is some that was not for publication in blog. Anyway i have this some of picture. If the picture size was too big again, i’ll make another part-4 then you’ll have to navigate and navigate and navigate again…Sorry for this, i’ll find solution for it soon.
Below are some of the pictures taken in IOI which is suitable for publication;
Industrial visits to sandakan day 2;
Second day was an interesting day. We check out from the hotel that we stay overnight and went directly to IOI Edible Oil Sandakan. The journey there From hotel ramai takes around 15minutes drive. After we arrive there, we were told to go into IOI Edible Oil compound and wait for the person incharge to come.
Waiting there feels not so long as there was an routine emergency alarm for safety practices. You can see in the Industrial Visits to IOI Edible Oil Sandakan Pt-1, i got put pictures we are waiting for the person incharge to come.
You can see above is the inspection done by the security for each lorry that coming in to the IOI Edible Oil compound.
After a while we was taken to the main office and take our Safety Hat which will be used later. Then we directly go to the briefing room which one building with IOI Edible Oil Sandakan canteen. There we was welcomed by MR.Kenny and we have short briefing with him before we divided into 3 groups for visiting different location.
As i was following Group one, We first learn on how the instrumentation work in IOI Edible Oil Sandakan. Mr.Kenny responsible in telling us how things in IOI works. The instrumentation details by Mr.Kenny was clear and easy to catch that this show his professionality in this sector. One of his teach that i remember the most is how to get Temperature by using Pressure without reffering the Table or Graph. This was quite interesting where we use the pressure in bar to find temperature by just using the calculator. Maybe this was not taught in school as it was for us to use accurate value in the table. Other than that Mr.Kenny gives explanation on the type of instrument that they use and we have a chance to see some of it’s design.
After session with Mr.Kenny, we move to IOI plant for processing Palm Oil which is guide by Mr.Chan. Going around there was quite interesting which we was given a chance to look on how IOI Edible Oil staff use the latest instrumentation. Finish going around the plant, we did go to the Lab to see some of the sample and to see how they take the sample for analysis.
As we finish going around, i found a chance to capture the picture above. That was quite an interesting part where the staff was taking sample from the lorry tank.
Around 1pm we finish going around IOI then we manage to move out and head towards Sandakan Mosque for prayer (muslims).
Finish Prayer, we heading towards sepilok. But sadly we reach there around 3.40 pm which means no more visiting orang utan. Feeling sad we went head back to Kota Kinabalu. Anyway a bit about sepilok were, it was one of the attraction of Sabah. There you can meet with orang utan which is from charles darwin theory, they are our ancestor, anyway it was proven not true from the existance of DNA. Environment around sepilok was also quite nice and calm and you can have the feeling of rainforest of sabah.
As we moving to KK once again we stop at the same shop on the way to KK for berbuka puasa. We have our lunch there (which is not taken as we are rushing for sepilok) and i might say it is also a dinner for some of us. For me a lunch and dinner as i’m on diet but i got eat something when near KK.
On the place i manage to take this picture. There is some nice picture taken by my friends but i think i just want to show my work. What A beautiful day. Anyway about the trip, it was nice and we have fun there too.
Special Thanks to 3rd Year Chemical Engineering Student, Miss Murni and also IOI Edible Oil Sandakan. Not to forget Mr.Kenny – Thanks for your warm welcome hope we can cooperate in the future.
